Vitamin B12 Injection

Specification: 1ml:1000mcg (1mg)

Pharmacological category: Water-soluble vitamin, anti-anemia & neurotrophic drug

Product Description

Mechanism of action: Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin) is an essential nutrient for human body, participates in nucleic acid synthesis, protein and fat metabolism, and folic acid cycle conversion. It promotes the maturation and division of megaloblasts, corrects megaloblastic anemia; nourishes myelinated nerve fibers, maintains nerve cell integrity and normal function, relieves peripheral neuritis and nerve damage. It cannot be synthesized by the human body and must be supplemented by exogenous intake, synergistic with folic acid for hematopoiesis.

Indications: Prevention and treatment of Vitamin B12 deficiency and megaloblastic anemia; adjuvant treatment of pernicious anemia, iron deficiency anemia and mixed anemia (combined with iron and folic acid); treatment of peripheral neuritis, polyneuritis, neuralgia and numbness of limbs caused by Vitamin B12 deficiency; nutritional support for malnutrition, postpartum, postoperative and chronic consumptive diseases; adjuvant therapy for aplastic anemia and myelosuppression; neurotrophic care for elderly patients with nervous system degeneration.

Usage and dosage: Intramuscular injection only (deep intramuscular injection). Adult: 1000mcg (1 ampoule) once a day or every other day, the course of treatment is 2~4 weeks; for severe deficiency: 1000mcg once a day for 7 days, then 2~3 times a week for maintenance. Pediatric: 500~1000mcg per time, 2~3 times a week, adjust dosage according to age and weight strictly.

Contraindications: Contraindicated in patients allergic to this product, cyanocobalamin and any excipients of the preparation.

Cautious population: Use with caution in patients with severe hepatic and renal insufficiency (monitor liver and kidney function regularly); use with caution in pregnant and lactating women (proper dosage is safe, can prevent fetal/infant nervous system malformation); elderly patients with hypotension use slowly to avoid dizziness; infants and neonates use strictly according to medical advice, avoid excessive administration; patients with thalassemia and iron overload use with caution.

Adverse reactions: High safety with conventional dosage, mild and rare adverse reactions. Common mild local pain, swelling and induration at deep intramuscular injection site (relieved by hot compress); occasional dizziness, headache, fatigue, nausea and mild diarrhea; rare allergic reactions (skin rash, pruritus, urticaria), severe anaphylactic shock is extremely rare. Long-term large-dose use may cause hypokalemia and hyperuricemia (reversible after drug withdrawal); no accumulation toxicity due to water-soluble properties, excess drug is excreted in urine.

Notes: Deep intramuscular injection is recommended to reduce local irritation, avoid intravenous injection; it has a synergistic effect with folic acid, combined use can significantly improve anemia curative effect; regular monitoring of hemoglobin, serum Vitamin B12 and folic acid levels during medication; store in a cool and dark place, avoid light and high temperature, protect from light to prevent drug decomposition and failure.
