1.Action

Antihistamine Effect: Chlorpheniramine Maleate is a first-generation antihistamine that effectively blocks histamine H1 receptors, reducing allergic reactions caused by histamine.

Relieves Allergy Symptoms: Primarily used to relieve symptoms of allergic conditions such as allergic rhinitis (hay fever), allergic dermatitis, urticaria, and eczema. It helps alleviate symptoms like nasal congestion, runny nose, sneezing, itching, and redness.

Relieves Cold Symptoms: Also used to relieve nasal and ocular symptoms caused by the common cold or upper respiratory infections, such as runny nose, sneezing, nasal congestion, and tearing.

Adjunctive Treatment: In some cases, it can be used as an adjunctive treatment for other allergic diseases like allergic asthma (though not a first-line treatment).

2. Dosage and Administration

Adult Dosage:

Allergy Symptoms: Typically, 4 mg (1 tablet) per dose, 3-4 times daily.   The dosage can be adjusted according to the severity of the condition under a doctor's guidance.

Cold Symptoms: 4 mg (1 tablet) per dose, 3-4 times daily.   The dosage can be gradually reduced as symptoms improve.

Pediatric Dosage:

Children aged 2-6 years: 2 mg (half a tablet) per dose, 3-4 times daily.   The dosage should be adjusted based on the child's age and weight.

Children aged 6-12 years: 4 mg (1 tablet) per dose, 3-4 times daily.   Use under adult supervision.

Administration Tips:

Take with Water: Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

Meal Timing: Can be taken with or without food, but taking it with food may reduce stomach upset.

Complete the Course: Even if symptoms improve, complete the full course of treatment as prescribed by your doctor to ensure the condition is fully managed.
